Deep Forest

This body of work is in constant momentum, clambering to show respect for the magnificence of plant relationships; relationships we will never fully grasp, nor fathom to the depth of their complexity, which is beyond our capacity to understand.

The images were photographed throughout the regions of the Adirondack State Park of New York state, the Three Sisters National Park of Sydney, Australia and the deep forests surrounding the island of Netawanda, near Magnetawan, Canada.

These images were taken with the Yashica twin lens camera I inherited from my father, from his father. All images were taken with Tri-X film, scanned, and digitally printed for this portfolio.

A double-sided, hanging print of ‘Prospect’ and ‘Seed’ is rotating on permanent display at Paul Smith College, NY, near the Adirondack state park.
